The Road Ahead

The next couple months are shaping up to be pretty nutty. I have always found that the two months that are really and truly uninterrupted during the school year are September and March. Between breaks and field trips and special days that take us out of our norm, those two months are really just about it.

Anyway, that said, take a minute if you will to put the following items on your calendars:
  • Donuts With Dad is this Wednesday morning at 7:15. (Which reminds me, I had better get there extra-early that day, so that I have a place to park...)
  • Homecoming Week is next week, September 21-25. Homecoming Week means Spirit Week. Stay tuned for what each day will be.
  • We will be heading to Camp Jameson on Thursday, October 1! Students will need to bring a completely disposable lunch that day. We are planning all kinds of leadership-building and teamwork (or "synergy", as the young business professionals are so fond of saying) activities. We are also welcoming any and all parent volunteers! I already have two, but 5-1 is infamous for having many, so come one, come all! Just let me know, and make sure you are up to date on your background check with Carmel Clay.
  • The very next day, on Friday, October 2, will be the Woodbrook Mane Event. As you surely recall, we went without a carnival last year, much to the students' and the public's dismay. But up from the ashes comes the new Woodbrook carnival, which is shaping up to be pretty cool. A certain someone will be freezing his booty off in the dunk tank (for no more than a half hour, I've been promised...) that night, and I hope to see many familiar faces there, both current and former, all you old Woodbrookians!
  • Wednesday, October 7, is Hike and Bike to School Day. Plan to walk or bring your bike to school that day, and promote good health at the same time. In fact, when I was outside both yesterday and today, I thought, "This feels like football weather, which feels like Bus Evacuation Drill weather, which feels like Hike and Bike weather."
  • Monday, October 12 is Picture Day! Make sure your hair is primped and gelled, and boys wear a shirt with a collar for once (before you get back to the room and ask if you can take it off).
  • Lastly, Saturday, October 24 is the Ghosts and Goblins 5K/2K at Carmel High School. It begins at 9am. Get registered here! Let's get a whole mob of gruesome racers from Woodbrook out there that day. I did it last year; it's a lot of fun.
That's all for the foreseeable. Stay tuned!
