Revolution Means a Circle

You could say I have an attention deficit problem when it comes to getting my classroom ready, I suppose. It's difficult for me to spend too long in the building at a time, but over the last four days, I have spent several hours trying to prepare the room. It's still not finished, so I am praying that we will get to have some time tomorrow and won't have to spend the entire day in meetings.

There is something about this time of year that makes it feel like fall, even though we are far away from it on the calendar. Here it is, almost 8:00, and it does look like the sun is starting to set outside instead of broad daylight like it was just a few weeks ago.

Up here where I live, school has been back in for a week already. Monday afternoon, while I was driving through my neighborhood, I saw kids walking home from school while their parents stood outside and waited for them.

Yesterday, I made my annual pilgrimage back to Purdue to get my Mortar Board (which is what they call their yearly day planners) from Discount Den at Chauncey Hill. Yes, I still use a paper and pencil day planner, being the Luddite that I am. This is another sign of the time.

During this season, my thoughts start turning toward not only the upcoming school year, but setting up my tutoring schedule, thinking about last year's students starting middle school, thinking about former students starting college, and lastly, the upcoming fiscal year (although we call it "educational year") full of possibilities and opportunities.

Sure, it may sound a bit corny, but I get kind of corny when this season rolls around.

More to come!

Thank you! I am excited to have her in class too--it wasn't hard for me to figure out which one she was. :)
