The Good Earth Smiles

A friend of mine posted this on Facebook today and I thought I'd share it here, seeing as how we're studying such things in Science right now. Evidently, this picture was taken by the Cassini probe as it passed by Saturn on its way across the solar system. It has a great view of several of Saturn's stars, and if you click here, you will see that Earth is in there somewhere too, visible as a tiny dot of light. There is another related story here. Click away!

Tomorrow we will have a packed day. In fact, your kids will be working like horses between now and December 20. Can't believe we only have three weeks until Winter Break. We have to make every second count in the meantime. We will be reading a book as a class (From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg).

The students will also have homework every night this week related to our upcoming trip to BizTown. (At least one bit of homework. It's been carefully mapped out.) We will also have a Spelling list this week, as we will be able to squeeze a Spelling test in on Friday during our time at school.

As many of you know, if I haven't already contacted you about a time to conference before, during, or after the school day, I will be doing so soon. I have three lined up for this week already, and I'm hoping to get the rest lined up either before Winter Break or shortly after.

Let me know if you have any questions regarding this week or the weeks after. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and will have a terrific holiday season.
